Ellis Bridals love hearing back from our brides, there is nothing more gratifying than seeing the pure joy and happiness that our Ellis Bridals wedding dresses get to be a part of. Recent bride, Britt, got in touch to tell us about her special day in her Ellis Bridals full A-Line dress. Delicate lace overlays a soft sweetheart neckline, pinched in at the waist with satin belt flowing into afull A-line organza skirt.

When and where did you meet your husband?
I met my husband on an online dating app called OkCupid and we went on our first date in July 2014. We were very compatible to begin with – our conversations were seamless and we made each other laugh extremely easily.
How did you know he was the one?
I think I knew he was the one based when he met my parents a month into our dating. Knowing how much my parents meant to me, he was extremely poised and approachable and cared about them learning about him as well as him learning about them.
How did he propose?
The proposal was a complete surprise! We had gone on a few vacations together internationally but either us had not visited Aruba before. We were on our annual trip in May 2017 in Aruba and Charlie proposed at a beautiful restaurant. No bent knee, just a simple question as we toasted champagne.
When and where did the big day take place?
When we returned back home, we started to explore venues right away. We landed upon Old Tappan Manor in a small town in Northern New Jersey for July 29, 2017.
When did you start planning?
After we set the date, we started shopping for our other vendors and I started to brainstorm styles.
Where did you get your dress?
One of my friends recommended Park Avenue Bridals in Cedar Grove, NJ so I scheduled a visit with my Mom and old sister.
Is that the sort of dress you thought you would go for or was it a surprise?
When I started researching styles, I wanted to have a light dress since we were getting married in the summer and I loved the idea of mixed texture. I preferred sleeveless, and I shared my thoughts with my bridal salon attendant. I tried on nine dresses and it was a very easy pick – I felt bridal and special the moment I tried the dress on – I wasn’t surprised by the style that I chose, but I fell in love with the beautiful details – the delicate lace on top, the gorgeous back key-hole, and the subtle bow.
What style of maids and groomsmen did you go for?
We had a small wedding party – Maid of Honour, 1 bridesmaid, best man, and 1 groomsman. I was open to any style and any shade of pink, so I let my bridesmaid decide the shade of pink and style of dress themselves.
How did you arrive at the ceremony?
On the day of the wedding, I prepared for the day with my mom, dad, sister, and bridesmaid at the house I grew up in, which gave it a very sentimental feeling. We all took a stretch limo to the church where I walked down the aisle with my dad.
How did you accessories to make your wedding day look unique?
Because of the high neckline of my dress and my desire to put my hair up, I wanted accentuated earrings with a touch of gold as well as a delicate hair piece.
What was the inspiration or colour theme for your wedding?
Regarding the overall theme of the wedding, I wanted to see pastels and warm colors. My floral arrangements had pastel pinks, pastel purples, and a hint of gold.
What kind of food did you have? Cake?
At the ceremony itself, we had an extensive cocktail hour with everything from raw bar to braised lamb to sushi to eggplant parmesan and more! We had an open bar the whole evening. For dinner, we had a sit-down dinner of salad, an entree option of steak, salmon, or chicken, and we had a full Viennese hour for an open buffet of dessert which included our half cappuccino/half ganache wedding cake, fresh crepes, assorted ice creams, and a variety of pastries, pies, and more cakes!
What tips do you have for new brides picking their wedding dress?
Tips for brides picking their dress: Pick a dress that fits your personality and that you will feel comfortable in. Confidence is where your beauty will shine through.
Where were your photos taken?
Photos were taken at the venue: Old Tappan Manor in Old Tappan, New Jersey. They have gorgeous gardens and fountains and ground that we were able to pose and take our portraits.
What was your favourite moment from the day?
My favourite moment of the wedding was our first dance – I am a competitive ballroom dancer and my husband does not dance for a hobby, so we took lessons together to choreograph our first dance. We did a combination of a Rumba and a Hustle. The day of the wedding was the first time we danced with my dress on and the movement of the fabric during my turns and spins made the moment so special.
